for what is happening in san bernardino right now. this is from the sheriff's office so let me say that this is early information. today at about 12:20 p.m. sheriffs were in the hunt for clir for dorner in the big bear area. they received a call about a stolen vehicle in the 1200 block of club view drive. the stolen vehicle was individual that afeered be similar to christopher dorner. it immediately conducted a ground and air search for this vehicle and was able to located it at highway 38 and glass road where the suspect fled into the forrest. shortly after, the suspect barricaded himself into a cabin and an exchange of gunfire occurred. during that gunfire two officers were injured and right now their condition is unknown. los angeles police department

has sent resources out to the san bernardino officers. our resources are waiting there for information from the san bernardino county sheriff's. this is their lead, this is their investigation. we are there to support them, only if asked. that is as much i have on that particular incident throughout. a quick update on how the search is going from our side. right now we have 1,045 officers out there following up on clues. some are panning out and some are dead ends. we're going to continue to work our clues as these events unfold. i will take a couple of quick questions but my information is sketchy. we're not positive and until we get this guy in custody we're not going to know for sure. they say it was similar in

appearance so the like -- likely hood but we can't say for sure. i can't confirm the hostage part. we were listening to the scanner and getting our information from the san bernardino's sheriffs. i can't confirm anyone was held hostage and that has not been confirmed yet. i can't give you specifics about what resources we have up there. we believe this individual may be watching tv or have some access to media. i do not want to tip our hand. ask the media to not show any live broadcasting of where the swat officers are doing in that area. the reason for that is, it will put officers at a disadvantage if the suspect know what is our folks are doing.
6:07 pm
i don't know what the involvementment of the california fishing and game associate was at this time. i don't have an update from them, i don't know what their involvement is at that time. >> can you talk about the feeling among officers, now that it looks like he may be caught? >> everyone is very hopeful this ends without any further bloodshed. we hope we can take this guy into custody and we hope that no other officers are injured. the best thing for him would be for him to surrender and he can face the criminal justice system. there is a sense of apprehension here, there is concern with the officers up there. until he is in custody, none of our people are going to rest. >> what kind of resources -- >> i can't give specifics about
6:08 pm
what resources we sent. we did send some resources and they are waiting at the airport and we're waiting to be called in if we're needed. by the way people are asking if the chief of police went own there, he has not. he is still here. i don't have any information about the suspect allegedly took. i have seen videotape from the media members, i don't have any information on the vehicle. >> if he is watching this, what message do you have for him? >> the message for him is enough is enough. it time to turn yourself in. it is time to stop the bloodshed. let this event and let this incident be over. >> is your first priority to take him alive? >> our first priority is to make sure the community is safe. once that area is locked down and all the citizens are safe, then we'll let the swat team go in and do what they do best,
6:09 pm
which is hopefully get him without any more bloodshed. one more question then i have to go. >> are you going wait until it dies down? >> a couple things on that. san bernardino officers are embedded in a team of officers who have been working to solve this thing. we also sent one of our assistant chiefs out there so we're getting real time updates so we no what is going on up there. probably a very good exchange of information. we work really well with our law enforcement partners throughout southern california. ok. i don't know what the weapons he had. >> you've been listening to a press conference in california about the situation in the san bernardino mountains. that is where the rogue police officer, christopher dorner is believed to be hiding out, possibly in that cabin that you
